For residential jobs in NY and NJ painting projects, particularly home painting, smaller tasks (under a few thousand dollars) require a 20% upfront deposit. This deposit secures the home painting project and covers initial material costs. Progress payments will be made at key milestones throughout the project phases, such as after the preparation work is completed and midway through the process. The final payment is due upon completion to ensure client satisfaction with the work performed, all while adhering to EPA Lead Certified standards for safety and compliance.
For larger projects, like painting an entire house, a 30% deposit is necessary to initiate the project. Similar to smaller jobs, progress payments correspond with important milestones, and the remaining balance is due upon completion of the work, following a thorough final inspection.
In the case of commercial jobs or projects involving expensive materials, the deposit can be as high as 50% upfront, reflecting the increased costs associated with these endeavors. As with larger residential projects, payments for progress are tied to specific milestones or a predetermined schedule of values. For considerable commercial projects, it's common to retain a percentage (e.g., 10%) of each progress payment as retainage, released at the end of the project after a final inspection and acceptance period. Importantly, all work complies with EPA Lead Certified standards to ensure safety and adherence to regulations.
